SongSteppers creators, Gary Guttman and Greg Miller are both classically trained composers as well as rock/pop musicians. Gary and Greg both studied music composition with Pulitzer Prize winning composer Karel Husa. Garys music is heard round the globe in television shows, IMAX films and theme parks. His compositions have been performed by some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Toronto Symphony. He was also a keyboardist for the iconic pop group Missing Persons, and can be heard on their hits "Destination Unknown" and "Mental Hopscotch" (recorded in Frank Zappas home by legendary record producer and Beatles engineer Ken Scott). Greg was the keyboardists for the rock group Honest Lies and has written several off-Broadway shows. Hes the owner of a leading software training company and his HTML based instruction guides and reference materials stands as unique resources in the field of computer-based training.
For the past decade, Gary Guttman and Greg Miller have focused their talents and energies on creating innovative and entertaining music education products and have garnered international acclaim. This is a much needed tool for the beginning songwriter. Its nice to find something I can suggest to young musicians that are curious about the process but are confused by the mystery. This apps approach is simple, clear and a complete primer on songwriting.
really enjoying working out some song ideas with this, the team did a good job of integrating solid music theory with a good tablet user experience. I’ve recommended it to some friends who run a nonprofit teaching rock music to kids here in the bay area.
This app is amazing! It breaks down song composition into concise parts which easily build upon each other. In under an hour you will have a pretty good idea of how songs can be structured and how to start composing your own music. Besides being good for making your own music, I would also recommend it for anybody that may be thinking of collaborating with a composer. It will give you a good idea how to describe different musical effects and patterns. Highly recommended!
